Sooooo, yep taking the face off so I can mold the back and sides in ultracal and then cast in latex. Then I can slip the cast over my better headcast and sculpt the face, then mold that and cast that in silicone.

MADAME VASTRA BACK

Decided to start the back now, leaving the front and fin until tonight as it really is very soft. Even texturing is a bit tricky. Might have to use the smallest silicone brush.

Hmmm maybe even a skewer.

That was much faster than the back 🙂 but the other side is going to be hard to match. Might need some paper and pins 🙂

Yep, masking tape to help measure 🙂 The tape is now gone. The lines are balanced but definitely individual on each side 🙂 hoping to get this back half done this week. But I am permanently fatigues and this is making time management difficult.

This is the sketch, essentially. Trying to make it even before I start to make individual scales. I may have to make a stamp to really make it work.

VASTRA, AND ALL THE BACK IS BLOCKED AND SKETCHED,

by admin January 25, 2015

I used the end of a loose craft knife blade to create the lines. Used the flat end of a cuticle stick to push the clay in to rounded shape. Still need to tidy, oh so much tidying.

But I’m on my second iceblock wreath so defitely time for a saline and liquid break. I may need to counter low blood pressure normally (90 over 65 is very common for me, high is 105 over 70) so on days like today it’s a bit not wise to do too much ;).
